Hector the Hedgehog Portrait

Hector Welcomes You!

Hector the Hedgehog is a children's book series about growing hearts and growing up — one character, one lesson, one story at a time.

Before Hector Had a Forest

More than thirty years ago, my mother told me a story about a small hedgehog who noticed the good in things, even on the hard days. It was just for me, back then — a bedtime story, nothing more.

That story became Hector. Today it's grown into a whole forest of books, each one built around a single lesson kids carry with them long after the story ends. It still feels like the same story my mother told me. It just has more friends now.

Why Hector?

Every child is going to face a moment that calls for courage, or honesty, or patience with someone who's hard to be patient with — and picture books are one of the earliest places kids learn what those traits actually look like in practice. The Hector the Hedgehog series was built around that idea: each story takes on a single character trait — kindness, honesty, belonging, patience — through one small hedgehog's very relatable mishaps, so parents have something to hand a child before the hard moment, not just after.
